Raining and really quiet cold.<br />
We need the rain, but I just don't like wet days this time of year.<br />
It is miserable for the animals, even though they have warm dry<br />
shed, <br />
and are fed very well. But everyone needs the rain, so it is a<br />
matter of taking it and being grateful for it.<br />
I have been making soap using goat milk the last few months.<br />
Even if I say so myself it has turned out really well. I am intending<br />
too keep trying and hopefully my efforts will improve as time goes by.<br />
<br />
My heart goes out to the people in Moore, Oklahoma, USA. I cant imagine<br />
how frightening the Tornado that hit them must have been. It is<br />
impossible to imagine how they are coping with their losses. I just hope<br />
things improve for them all.<br />
<br />
Our first goat babies are due 2nd July. Jewel has been a bit of a problem,<br />
but it looks like she will be the first to kid this season. We are looking forward to<br />

the arrival of strong healthy babies from her.<br />

<br />
This is some of my first attempt at soap making.<br />
We have used it now and it is very good.<br />

Just after lunch today we had a very big storm.<br />
The thunder and lightning was really severe. Rain fell in all directions and the wind blew it<br />
everywhere in sheets of water. We measured 44ml. rain.<br />
It is impossible to imagine how diverse this country of ours is. Raging bush fires and flooding rains.<br />
The National Park in the Warrambungle Mountains near Coonabarabran was destroyed by fire.<br />
The fire was reported to have started on 13th January and there was still a lot of hot spots burning,<br />
however I expect the rain today would have taken care of them. The fire escaped the park and burnt out reportedly 56thousand hectares and 53 home completely destroyed along with numerous Shed and farm equipment and vehicles, not to mention the loss of animal life, domestic and native.<br />
Victoria and Tasmania also have had their share of huge bush fires, while the top end of Queensland, down to Brisbane and into NSW have been inundated with flood waters.<br />
These events are not new as my Parents often spoke of big bush fires and floods that left people with a lot of damage.<br />
In 1950 the flood waters went through our house. Dads prize stallion spent the duration of the flood an the table top from a truck suspended on 44 gallon drums. Food and fresh water was carried to him by row boat.<br />

These are the pleasures of living in Australia. Just one of the many pictures taken of the fire.<br />

I have not been enjoying the best of health.<br />At present I am undergoing Chemotherapy for Colon Cancer. I have been a non smoker and non drinker of Alcohol all my life and have eaten fresh fruit and vegetables daily. I dont know what has caused my illness. My husband and I have done the Rotary bowl scans each 2 years, with no adverse results. I had very few symptoms and thought my trouble was gall stone.<br />I would like to ask anyone reading this to make sure they have a regular check-up. Chemotherapy is no fun, but hopefully the end result will be a good outcome.Donna Ohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04538014319824869503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848110638033781191.post-56428305802479226702011-11-05T03:48:00.000-07:002011-11-05T03:51:10.437-07:00Resident<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioY-IwfWGVBF5GrQP8WlobC1tYIHk_TRUvqqOr-BGLP22JlcZ0uyL8ZqEHQJQzuU17m51FRCg90aBKhT_gRIGXfNNbkEtztUfN5F56z9eH1y1PsDOd_eZlhtxwaV2feWegjvgqYTdnZ4x9/s1600/IMG_0009.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioY-IwfWGVBF5GrQP8WlobC1tYIHk_TRUvqqOr-BGLP22JlcZ0uyL8ZqEHQJQzuU17m51FRCg90aBKhT_gRIGXfNNbkEtztUfN5F56z9eH1y1PsDOd_eZlhtxwaV2feWegjvgqYTdnZ4x9/s200/IMG_0009.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671462102995317218" border="0" /></a><br />This is a resident in my Garden. I am not sure what the temperature has been, but it must have been below zero by the very heavy frosts we have had. I think it would have been colder this morning then yesterday as the water pipe to the kitchen was frozen for the first time in quiet a few years. The poor old hens had to wait until the ice on their water melted before they could get a drink. It was the same for the goats and dogs. I am not at all keen on this frosty weather, but then again I don't seem to handle the heat of the summer too well either. My garden is not doing too well with the heavy frost and most of the plants are keeping their heads down. I tried to get some photos of the ice on the garden yesterday, but the photos don't really show how heavy the ice was.<br /><br /><br />Donna Ohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04538014319824869503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848110638033781191.post-71241110975790022992011-06-26T00:56:00.000-07:002011-06-26T01:10:45.471-07:00Back Again.<div>Hi I am back again. I haven't been here for a while. Hopefully I will find some interesting things to post before too long. Its mid winter here and cold and frosty. The temperature has been 0 degree celsius on a number of mornings, with heavy frost covering everything and doing a lot of damage in the garden. The winter solstice has passed so It is counting down to Spring. I always think mid July to mid August is the worst time of year, with the very cold south-west winds.</div><br /><br /><br /><div>We generally don't have a long Spring season. We go from Winter into Summer.</div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhELfXFpJK2HwErGvv5u9lEwTNDRN5s0Bc1Umykl5KeEmX8U53K242CcgbqxJBB_0MMANBalzlLzMhAW6ux19uNX2JXnolOdpnBUbEULmotrgSQhDu4YaYZesF1yD0bZoVL2eybZPBW8she/s1600/IMG_0003.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 150px; HEIGHT: 200px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5622436988674673506" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhELfXFpJK2HwErGvv5u9lEwTNDRN5s0Bc1Umykl5KeEmX8U53K242CcgbqxJBB_0MMANBalzlLzMhAW6ux19uNX2JXnolOdpnBUbEULmotrgSQhDu4YaYZesF1yD0bZoVL2eybZPBW8she/s200/IMG_0003.JPG" /></a>This is my Zygo Orchid. It had a strong association with the Bushranger "Captain Starlite" in the late 1800's. </div><br /><div>I took this photo of a small church we saw. It is just lovely. Even though the Luffas' have done great, I think we will get early frost that will probably stop them from drying out. They seem to be different from the ones I have grown previously. I will just have to wait and see what happens.<br />We went to an Excess Sale yesterday in Coona. They are held about once a month. Usually there is<br />cattle, sheep, goats and pigs in the livestock line up along with a large variety of Birds Ducks and Chickens of all types. Sometimes there will be Ferrets, Rabbits and Kittens as well. Apart from the livestock there can be household items, various building and fencing materials. Yesterday I got a real bargin, I bought 3 large garden pots for $5.00. My buy of the day was a pair of<br />Silver Lace Wyandotte Bantams also for the price of $5.00 each. When I say my buy of the day - it was for me as I think these little bantams are just beautiful. I was told they were Stud Birds, but even if they are not- I am really happy to have them.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz5o5yOigFHaznzRsxTANseDdYlMFkVq2snfzgFpBuEqOEH5jULaeDnKW-FNk134bNs7ewVLg8-b5u-ErdMxEB-8Uirpy_8z-FClFfo_57aOx48GMFME9YtewF4uHY0RscobSfKxyJbEuW/s1600/Bantams003+++mine.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz5o5yOigFHaznzRsxTANseDdYlMFkVq2snfzgFpBuEqOEH5jULaeDnKW-FNk134bNs7ewVLg8-b5u-ErdMxEB-8Uirpy_8z-FClFfo_57aOx48GMFME9YtewF4uHY0RscobSfKxyJbEuW/s200/Bantams003+++mine.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5469175631656929858" border="0" /></a>Donna Ohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04538014319824869503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848110638033781191.post-75735524463616780542010-02-27T01:51:00.000-08:002010-02-27T02:02:34.526-08:00Great Season<div style="text-align: right;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjEuuzJx2SqZNCAgVGau_Y48zSim_VwKD4mkkZIaYTqepIm92B4TATP1RN6FiuUy0TXrwKUIh1V9d9pisFvplPn61lun8LRAqHFeJDALEBMKGsYO34yWOtQ-Wj4WC6uO-zmxVVacDeoqF7/s1600-h/Luffas+003.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjEuuzJx2SqZNCAgVGau_Y48zSim_VwKD4mkkZIaYTqepIm92B4TATP1RN6FiuUy0TXrwKUIh1V9d9pisFvplPn61lun8LRAqHFeJDALEBMKGsYO34yWOtQ-Wj4WC6uO-zmxVVacDeoqF7/s200/Luffas+003.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442859984125612770" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyNqYxlGZuWFYaGi9gJB4Md7ZzWHhJs_Dms0JsgyqNSzXr0L_V6RPJbVvBUv9K5wVYGta8QiBmC0aHBm00j-uuJCkaYi037mlz_-V90jRl0L-Zx1iaMkj9Hs9He-9kGvr-NgZxpIpfJh0_/s1600-h/Luffas+004.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyNqYxlGZuWFYaGi9gJB4Md7ZzWHhJs_Dms0JsgyqNSzXr0L_V6RPJbVvBUv9K5wVYGta8QiBmC0aHBm00j-uuJCkaYi037mlz_-V90jRl0L-Zx1iaMkj9Hs9He-9kGvr-NgZxpIpfJh0_/s200/Luffas+004.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442860176158062226" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUm96QaiY5h-gNw2s4KfdsDgj6tMQlbtChoMMGHXtXoerzOnxhfp0NsX-Afft9mrfsb0PwoGc5NWVf_UgUZljT955zVDMltL7mhbm2QCkkL7Z0o5oURf5xzqjEqA2l4aFTA4gm13_jWR_0/s1600-h/Luffas+007.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUm96QaiY5h-gNw2s4KfdsDgj6tMQlbtChoMMGHXtXoerzOnxhfp0NsX-Afft9mrfsb0PwoGc5NWVf_UgUZljT955zVDMltL7mhbm2QCkkL7Z0o5oURf5xzqjEqA2l4aFTA4gm13_jWR_0/s200/Luffas+007.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442860542952367554" border="0" /></a></div><br /> These are the Luffas The Pumpkin Vines <br /><br />We have had wonderful rain here during December and the first two days of the New Year.<br />My garden has filled in beautifully. I will post a photo in the next few days. The Pumpkins that we planted have gone mad. I have never seen them do so well. Ever since we moved here, 36 years ago, I have been trying to grow Luffas. This year they have done as well as the pumpkins, Hopefully we will be able to leave some to dry to make dish and washing cloths from.Donna Ohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04538014319824869503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848110638033781191.post-82639090958167277952010-02-23T14:46:00.000-08:002010-02-23T15:02:04.875-08:00Goat HandlerCharlie has built a new goat handler. He gave his other one to a friend, as he decided he didnt need it. We have a few old pet goats and he found it difficult to handle them to trim their fee, drench and vaccinate them without the handler. So He built another one. He says it is an improvement on the old one.<br />I was very proud of my design for the Handler. It makes working with goats much easier.<br />I do believe my design has been copied by others, I cant get angry about it as it makes the job easier and the goats dont stress as much.<br /> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnQiEv5LG1BeJyZK_HTA7pJ0Z4ECcK6L1TbhK3MWuXPt0K0NSq0pT7c4kQY5eEZjp638dV_hXUw3IqmECoeGgIOT65LmyWfKhNwO5tl4B4rdgtE00e9lGE_Xq5KI-l14Od80eeaCRahNYp/s1600-h/Bale+1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnQiEv5LG1BeJyZK_HTA7pJ0Z4ECcK6L1TbhK3MWuXPt0K0NSq0pT7c4kQY5eEZjp638dV_hXUw3IqmECoeGgIOT65LmyWfKhNwO5tl4B4rdgtE00e9lGE_Xq5KI-l14Od80eeaCRahNYp/s200/Bale+1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5441575946957555954" border="0" /></a><br />This is the old and new Handler<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6KPdbaACEw3fuuGkzSbcMzZaL2AlxYQwRDD35VjZ4wnKduziO_CRzDTzHy02Zc0xSynaxTFabOaMQL395F937YnA5lf9aQr8Tg8JF3B-B7PT5tjIgx3oP3U8I0YRf_rwb3SFmaCWGrtDe/s1600-h/Slide2.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6KPdbaACEw3fuuGkzSbcMzZaL2AlxYQwRDD35VjZ4wnKduziO_CRzDTzHy02Zc0xSynaxTFabOaMQL395F937YnA5lf9aQr8Tg8JF3B-B7PT5tjIgx3oP3U8I0YRf_rwb3SFmaCWGrtDe/s200/Slide2.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5441577361296086242" border="0" /></a>.<br />They also double as a loading ramp.Donna Ohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04538014319824869503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848110638033781191.post-31924454577568515432010-02-23T14:40:00.000-08:002010-02-23T14:46:03.710-08:00Tree Stumps.We had a large tree stump in the driveway. I don't have any photos this time, but will get to taking some soon.<br />2009 Has been and gone. The last Days were very traumatic for us here. My sister-in-law passed away. She vertually died of Mechenical Failure, as she had a defribulator conected to her heart and it failed to activate.<br />It was such a shock, she went to bed on Wednesday Night and didn't wake on Thursday Morning.<br />I will miss here so much. Her service was held on 23.12.2009 followed by her cremation.<br />Her passing dampened the excitement of the wonderful rain we have had. Everything is green again. You can almost hear the grass growing. With the first 2 days of 2010 we had more rain.<br />Some areas of our state got more than their share with flooding occuring. That is about all for now.Donna Ohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04538014319824869503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848110638033781191.post-60506618262501965052009-10-30T02:42:00.000-07:002009-10-30T02:48:32.418-07:00Update- Baby Rosellas.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEnAOLCXzoRpjIb2Rhmg4LMlVEoH5YKjPhjUg-oPju2jb5frUZ9SeNmOOoKkobKIRIQr8VoQVQOq60AoxzYYcN8utrMgiC-Mg50UP7p6b-iREMmraQoMAewGclXaS4JOsQi-Tjthh3EKFo/s1600-h/Baby+Birds+009.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEnAOLCXzoRpjIb2Rhmg4LMlVEoH5YKjPhjUg-oPju2jb5frUZ9SeNmOOoKkobKIRIQr8VoQVQOq60AoxzYYcN8utrMgiC-Mg50UP7p6b-iREMmraQoMAewGclXaS4JOsQi-Tjthh3EKFo/s200/Baby+Birds+009.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398327449106356466" border="0" /></a><br />The Baby Rosellas are doing well. Unfortunately it had been used as home to a pair of Eastern Rosellas. They nested in a hollow in the tree. When the tree fell the hollow limb broke up, seven babies fell from it. I have been feeding them for a week now and they are doing really well. When they are independant, and able to fly I will release them, in the front paddock so they can live in the wild as they are intended too. One of the baby birds is very small and still doesnt have any pin feathers, The bigger babies are starting to get coloured feathers coming through. When I found them I was unsure as to what kind of parrot they were, as they had only a few pin feathers.Donna Ohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04538014319824869503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848110638033781191.post-60183968888194210552009-10-12T03:55:00.000-07:002009-10-12T03:59:25.246-07:00Butterfly Tree<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhITFEZuWQQYXLWsNVOrFYJPGsNrpU8YzOzF6GSFkzCSMjOJEdumO0g1sCc-i3uxQVjTBtaCgUCeEBXNaMV-hEyqDBndyywP-hORk3svpGTJz2z06GmSuKyrxellms5O2EmHeZtbYmfOaJB/s1600-h/Sunrise+%26+Dust+001.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhITFEZuWQQYXLWsNVOrFYJPGsNrpU8YzOzF6GSFkzCSMjOJEdumO0g1sCc-i3uxQVjTBtaCgUCeEBXNaMV-hEyqDBndyywP-hORk3svpGTJz2z06GmSuKyrxellms5O2EmHeZtbYmfOaJB/s200/Sunrise+%26+Dust+001.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391666215212455410" border="0" /></a><br />My Butterfly Tree is in full flower. However, this year we have had really blustery winds and the weather has not been as good as it could have been.<br />Two mornings ago there was frost on the lawn - unusual for this time of year, although not unheard of. It seems to be doing the trick as usually I have trouble getting them to come into flower.Donna Ohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04538014319824869503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848110638033781191.post-52683579244474831062009-09-11T05:52:00.000-07:002009-09-11T05:55:24.125-07:00Arum Lilly<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLjMdaDou_VV1nMQRbsC7d7IVDakdwVzRm1xJleb8m5fzwAo2RAHIs0WNPwdRitilOUSVrN71Hspk8F-HvdzswYkyl4R4UvnRJbfIXKGvkh3fOQCqgA8ne0w5kcIRO3ox0KhBkyaIBL1rK/s1600-h/Garden+006.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLjMdaDou_VV1nMQRbsC7d7IVDakdwVzRm1xJleb8m5fzwAo2RAHIs0WNPwdRitilOUSVrN71Hspk8F-HvdzswYkyl4R4UvnRJbfIXKGvkh3fOQCqgA8ne0w5kcIRO3ox0KhBkyaIBL1rK/s200/Garden+006.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380192419458908386" border="0" /></a><br />The Arum Lilly is a lovely flower. Spring is 9 days old. We have had some much needed rain over the last week or so, and everything is looking good. It is still rather cold though. The trees are starting to get their new leaves and signs of thngs happening are about.<br />The Wood Ducks that have been nesting out the front of our block, bought their babies through about 10 days ago. They have been bringing theor young through our block for quiet a few years now. I ran to get my camera, but by the time I got back they had dissapeared. Yesterday, I saw then down by the dam, again I ran for the camera. The young ducks had grown considerably since the first sighting. Again they disapearsed as I came near. There is about a dozen of them. Two hit the water with their mother and I was able to take a photo of them.Donna Ohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04538014319824869503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848110638033781191.post-63909216806965652812009-06-28T00:36:00.000-07:002009-06-28T00:42:13.270-07:00Parrot Flower<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF4zFZJN1sG0pTJYOtYrFrgGSKpTMS-HaSu7Yne7YblBT0v1cSToP96NCa5N4RgZiucQ3BwEvd9SFemZ7TY-7XUV2JFhM5gobeajRGmYxV-t7lT_P0ceyQhWoqs5N2ip_-TFSUz6L4a5B4/s1600-h/!cid_128E8B06C9AA48B4BD3A08F2016C2222@donna.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt;
